Why Knitwear Reinforcement Must Be Tested on the Complete Garment

A stronger strap or opening is not a finished decision if the added material changes stretch, entry, movement or recovery.

Direct answer

Approve reinforcement only after the complete PP sample preserves strength, stretch, recovery and the dressing path. A local pull check can answer one narrow question, but it cannot prove that the garment still opens, passes over the body, moves and returns as intended.

Test the real entry and exit path, seated and standing movement, and any action the garment must allow.

Repeatability

Can the decision be carried into bulk?

Record placement, length, fastening, measurement reference and the condition that would trigger another sample.

CASE 12 / RECORDED PROCESS

The tape solved a local load concern, then removed the dressing function.

On an alpaca-and-silk blended knitted jumpsuit, non-stretch tape was added behind the straps to reduce pull on the knit. Once 50 finished garments were tried on, the pieces could not pass over the hips because the tape had removed the stretch needed for entry.
